In this film adaptation, Satrapi's incredible tale and beautiful animation come together to create something magnificent. The New York Times calls it "full of warmth and surprise, alive with humor and a fierce independence of spirit."

The Bowmakers

The bow is the Cinderella of the orchestra—the overworked and overshadowed ally to its more glamorous partners. Few people, even among lovers of classical music, think of the bow as an instrument in its own right, but players of stringed instruments see them differently. To musicians, the bow is as essential to expressing the soul of the music as the violin or cello. THE BOWMAKERS follows the journey of the “silent servant” of the music world - from workshops of the virtuosos of the trade, to the birthplace of the bow in France, and to Brazil, home to the imperiled tree from which the world’s finest bows are made.

Welcome to the Dollhouse

When we categorize this as a comedy, we mean a DARK comedy. This 1996 cult classic won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance and launched the career of director Todd Solondz. A stark, poignant dive into the life of deeply un-cool suburban middle schooler Dawn Wiener, played by Heather Matarazzo. Roger Ebert called it "intensely entertaining...[Solondz] shows the kind of unrelenting attention to detail that is the key to satire."
